Driver Jody Jamieson guided millionaire pacer Mystician to victory in the $50,000 Open Pace at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday night.
The Jeff Gillis trainee unleashed a :26.3 final quarter to come storming home from the backfield and wear down pacesetter Brave Alex Semalu in 1:52 flat. Upfront Hoosierboy (Mario Baillargeon) finished three-quarters of a length behind in third.
Mystician paid $3.80 to win as the favourite. The Camluck-Mystic Mistress is now three-for-five on the year and has yet to miss the board for Gillis and co-owners Ken Henwood of Mississauga, Ont., Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ont., and Gerald Stay of Buffalo, New York.
