Warrawee Koine returned to the track after a brief layoff in Tuesday’s qualifying session at Mohawk Racetrack.
Jody Jamieson and the Colin Johnson-trained Warrawee Koine lined up in Post 5 and wasted no time getting down to business. The two-time O’Brien Award winning driver had the five-year-old on the engine early. The black Astreos mare cut the opening quarter in :28.4 before spinning off the opening half mile in :58.1.
Warrawee Koine was up by four lengths when she tripped the three quarters timer in 1:26.1. She cruised home with a :28.4 final quarter and recorded a nine and three-quarter-length win in 1:55.
From 18 starts this year, Warrawee Koine has compiled a record of nine wins, four seconds and two thirds. The multiple Preferred and Open winner has had a productive season in the purse department, as well — $224,600 of her $444,558 in career earnings have been banked this year. Prior to her qualifying mile on Tuesday, Warrawee Koine hadn’t recorded a charted line since July 29.
